As the peak group representing Australian Football Umpires in the Canberra region since 1963, the AFLCUA has developed several Honours to acknowledge Members for their excellent work:
AFLCUA Best Umpire Award - since 1978 the AFLCUA has awarded a Best Umpire Award in each of the three senior umpire disciplines (Field, Boundary and Goal), as nominated by the respective discipline Coaches in that year.
AFLCUA Most Improved Umpire Award - since 2002 the AFLCUA has awarded a Most Improved Umpire Award in each of the three senior umpire disciplines (Field, Boundary and Goal), as nominated by the respective discipline Coaches in that year.
AFLCUA Best First Year Umpire Award - since 2002 the AFLCUA has awarded a Best First Year Umpire Award in each of the three senior umpire disciplines (Field, Boundary and Goal), as nominated by the respective discipline Coaches in that year.
The Frank Leverett Award - this award was created in 1992 and is the most presitguous honour in Australian Football umpiring in the Canberra region. It is an acknowledgement of a person who has provided outstanding and meritorius service to the Association and umpiring.
As well as these annual awards, the AFLCUA also recognises umpires for their achievements and service to the game and umpiring:
Life Membership - the AFLCUA has two types of life membership to recongise service from its Members: "Life Members", who are automatically acknowledged after giving 10 years of service to the Association and "Honorary Life Members", who are awarded for oustanding service to the Association via resolution at a General Meeting.
The 100 Club - The 100 Club is for Umpires who have umpired 100 (or more) First Grade matches in the Men's competition, recognising the significant achievement and is testament to both longevity and excellence in performance over a sustained period.
The 400 Club - The 400 Club is for Umpires who have umpired 400 (or more) matches in the AFL Canberra competition, recognising the significant achievement and is testament to both longevity and excellence in performance over a sustained period.
The Grand Final Club - just as winning a Grand Final is the ultimate prize for a football player and demonstrates who was the best team for the season, being selected to umpire a Grand Final is a prestiguous opportunity that rewards those umpires who have consistently performed at the top level all season.
Finally, the AFL Canberra League have created a number of awards that recognise the achievement of umpires from the Canberra region since 1997:
AFL Canberra League Umpire Awards - these include the Junior Umpire Awards, the 'Bird and Stirling Award', the 'Ray Chamberlain Emerging Umpire Award', the 'Rusty Taylor Scholarship' and the 'Rebecca Goddard Award'.
