AFLCUA participates in Centenary celebrations

Published Sun 14 Jul 2024

On 12-13 July 2024 AFL Canberra celebrated 100 Years of AFL Football in the ACT.

This was marked by all six First Grade Men's and Women's matches being played at Manuka Oval. Queanbeyan v Eastlake played their two games on Friday night, with Tuggheranong v Gungahlin starting us off on Saturday morning followed by Belconnen v Ainslie in the afternoon and twilight games.

It was a fabulous celebration that also included a display from all 6 First Grade (Premier Competition) Clubs and the Umpires' Association with items from throughout their histories. Our Goalies also went so far as to bring back the different signalling methods that were used last century!

The AFLCUA also arranged for a white on-field umpires shirt to be signed by all umpires who participated in this Heritage Round of matches.

Check out all the panel photos in our Centenary Round Gallery.
