Personal Injury Insurance cover is provided to Volunteer Club Umpires and League Appointed Umpires through the Australian Football Umpires | National Risk Protection Program which is underwritten by Marsh Advantage Insurance Pty Ltd. The insurance cover is designed to offer some peace of mind to members, participants, and volunteers of an organisation by having protection for certain costs related to an injury sustained whilst involved in an Insured’s activity. You can download the policy wording here.
All AFL Canberra umpires are covered under the ‘Silver Level Cover’ which includes the following non-Medicare medical benefits:
- 75% Reimbursement cover for items that are not claimable in any way through Medicare.
- Maximum payout of $2,500 per claim.
- Includes a $75 excess per claim.
Depending on when the accident occurred and the policy you need to make a claim under, there are different procedures to follow. Please visit the Marsh Online Sports Claiming page for more information about how to lodge a claim.
